B. Types of Advisory Services
Barrett Wealth Connection LLC (hereinafter “BWC”) offers the following services to
advisory clients:
Wealth Management Services
BWC offers ongoing wealth management services based on the individual goals,
objectives, time horizon, and risk tolerance of each client. BWC creates an Investment
Policy Statement for each client, which outlines the client’s current situation (income, tax
levels, and risk tolerance levels) to aid in the selection of a portfolio that matches each
client’s specific situation. Wealth Management Services include, but are not limited to, the
following:
• Investment strategy • Personal investment policy
• Asset allocation • Asset selection
• Risk Management • Regular portfolio monitoring
BWC evaluates the current investments of each client with respect to their risk tolerance
levels and time horizon. BWC will request discretionary authority from clients in order to
select securities and execute transactions without permission from the client prior to each
transaction. Risk tolerance levels are documented in the Investment Policy Statement,
which is given to each client.
Financial Planning
Financial plans and financial planning may include, but are not limited to investment
planning, life insurance, tax concerns, retirement planning, college planning, and
debt/credit planning. These services are based on hourly fees or a monthly fee for
continuing planning services. The final fee structure is documented in Exhibit I of the
Financial Planning Agreement.
Retirement Plan Services
BWC offers consulting and advisory services to employee benefit plans (such as 401(k)
plans) and their fiduciaries based upon the needs of the plan and the services requested
by the plan sponsor or named fiduciary. In general, these services may include 401(k)
planning, an existing plan review and analysis, investment policy statement preparation,
plan-level advice regarding fund selection and investment options, education services to
plan participants, investment performance monitoring, investment management, advice,
and/or ongoing consulting.
BWC may also assist with participant enrollment meetings and provide investment
related educational seminars to plan participants on such topics as diversification, asset
allocation, risk tolerance, and time horizon. Educational seminars may include other
investment-related topics specific to the particular plan. Where the individual account
participant exercises control over assets in their own account (hereinafter ''self-directed
plans''), BWC offers educational support and investment workshops designed for the plan
participants. The nature of the topics to be covered will be determined by BWC and the
client under the guidelines established in ERISA Section 404(c). The educational support
and investment workshops will not provide plan participants with individualized,
tailored
investment advice or individualized, tailored asset allocation recommendations.
BWC may also provide additional types of advisory services to plans on an individually
negotiated basis. All services, whether discussed above or customized for the plan based
upon requirements from the plan fiduciaries (which may include additional plan-level or
participant-level services) shall be detailed in a written agreement and be consistent with
the parameters set forth in the plan documents.
Educational Seminars
BWC may also provide educational seminars to individuals, covering wealth
management topics, including, but not limited to financial planning, college planning, and
divorce planning.
Buckingham Strategic Partners
BWC has contracted with Buckingham Strategic Partners (“BSP”), for services including
trade processing, collection of management fees, record maintenance, report preparation,
marketing assistance, and research. BWC pays a fee for BSP services based on
management fees paid to BWC on accounts that use BSP Advisor Services. The fee paid
by BWC to BSP consists of a portion of the fee paid by Clients to BWC and varies based
on the total Client assets administered by BSP through BWC. These fees are not separately
charged to advisory Clients.
Services Limited to Specific Types of Investments
BWC generally limits its investment advice and/or money management to mutual funds,
equities, bonds, fixed income, debt securities, ETFs, exchanged-traded REITs, insurance
products including annuities, and government securities. BWC may use other securities
as well to help diversify a portfolio when applicable.
C. Client Tailored Services and Client Imposed Restrictions
BWC offers the same suite of services to all clients. However, specific client financial plans
or portfolios and the implementation are dependent upon each client’s current situation
and is used to construct a client specific plan to aid in the selection of a portfolio that
matches restrictions, needs, and targets. Factors that are considered include but are not
limited to income, tax levels, time horizon, and risk tolerance levels. BWC employs the
use of an Investment Policy statement to document specific needs and circumstances.
Clients may impose restrictions in investing in certain securities or types of securities in
accordance with their values or beliefs. However, if the restrictions prevent BWC from
properly servicing the client account, or if the restrictions would require BWC to deviate
from its standard suite of services, BWC reserves the right to end the relationship.
D. Wrap Fee Programs
A wrap fee program is an investment program where the investor pays one stated fee that
includes management fees, transaction costs, fund expenses, and any other administrative
fees. BWC does not participate in any wrap fee programs.
