Description of Firm
Dumaine Investments LLC is a registered investment adviser primarily based in New Orleans,
Louisiana. We are organized as a limited liability company ("LLC") under the laws of the State
of Louisiana. We have been providing investment advisory services since November 2019.
We are solely owned by Clifford Freret Favrot. Currently, we offer the following investment
advisory services:
Investment Management Services
Wealth Advisory Services
Financial Consulting Services
The following paragraphs describe our services and fees. Please refer to the description of
each advisory service listed below for information on how we tailor our advisory services to
your individual needs. As used in this brochure, the words "we," "our," and "us" refer to
Dumaine Investments LLC and the words "you," "your," and "client" refer to you as either a
client or a prospective client of our firm.
Investment Management Services
Our investment advice is tailored to meet our clients' needs and objectives. After you retain
our firm for portfolio management services, we meet with you to determine your investment
objectives, risk tolerance, and other relevant personal information at the beginning of our
advisory relationship. We use the information gathered to develop a strategy that enables our
firm to give you focused investment advice and/or to make investments on your behalf.
If you participate in our discretionary portfolio management services, we require you to grant
our firm discretionary authority to manage your account. Discretionary authorization will allow
us to determine the specific securities, the number of securities, and if they should be
purchased or sold for your account without your approval prior to each transaction.
Discretionary authority is typically granted by the discretionary investment advisory agreement
you sign with our firm and the appropriate trading authorization forms.
You may limit our discretionary authority (for example, limiting the types of securities that can
be purchased or sold for your account) by providing our firm with your restrictions and
guidelines in writing.
Upon occasion, Dumaine Investments does offer non-discretionary investment management
services where the client must approve in advance all recommended portfolio actions. Non-
discretionary authorizations allow us to determine the specific securities, the number of
securities, and if they should be purchased or sold for your account but solely with your prior
approval and/or action prior to each transaction. Non-discretionary authority is typically
granted by the non-discretionary investment advisory agreement you sign with our firm and
the appropriate trading authorization forms.
We may offer complimentary financial planning services as part of our portfolio management
services.
Wealth Advisory Services
Additionally, accredited clients (i.e., clients meeting certain income or liquid net worth
requirements as set forth by the Securities and Exchange Commission) may engage us to
render advice on a non-discretionary basis with respect to the investment and reinvestment of
certain private placement assets. We
do advise clients without limitation regarding potential
investments in Opportunity Zone Fund Investments (“OZFs”), Delaware Statutory Trusts
(“DSTs”), other like kind exchange investment assets and other private placement
investments. Generally, an OZF is an investment vehicle designed to invest in real estate in
areas known as "opportunity zones." Opportunity zones are specific geographic areas
designated as economically distressed. Tax incentives for investments in opportunity zones
include delayed and potentially reduced taxes on capital gains. DSTs are formed as private
governing agreements under which either property (real, tangible, and intangible) is held,
managed, administered, invested and/or operated; or business or professional activities for
profit are carried on by one or more trustees for the benefit of the trustor entitled to a beneficial
interest in the trust property. DST Investments are offered as replacement property for
accredited investors seeking to defer their capital gains taxes through the use of a 1031 tax
deferred exchange and as straight cash investments for those wishing to diversify their real
estate holdings. In general, a private placement is a non-public raising of capital through the
offering and sale of debt or equity securities made between a business, or issuer, and a select
number of investors. While our wealth advisory services currently focus on real estate related
investments, our wealth advisory services can encompass providing advice on other private
investments that are not real estate oriented.
We may also offer complimentary financial planning services as part of our wealth
management services.
Financial Consulting Services
We offer financial consulting services that primarily involve advising clients on specific
financial-related topics. The topics we address may include but are not limited to: risk
assessment/management, investment planning, financial organization, or financial decision
making/negotiation.
Types of Investments
We offer advice on certificates of deposit, commercial paper, corporate debt securities (other
than commercial paper), derivatives, equity securities, exchange traded funds (ETFs),
interests in partnerships investing in real estate, interests in other private partnerships or
entities, money market funds, municipal securities, mutual fund shares, options contracts on
securities, real estate, real estate investment trust (REITs), and United States government
securities.
Additionally, we may advise you on various types of investments based on your stated goals
and objectives. We may also provide advice on any type of investment held in your portfolio at
the inception of our advisory relationship.
Since our investment strategies and advice are based on each client’s specific financial
situation, the investment advice we provide to you may be different or conflict with the advice
we give to other clients regarding the same security or investment.
Assets Under Management
As of December 31, 2023, we provided continuous wealth advisory and investment
management services for $164,401,747 of client assets on a discretionary basis, and
